Retreating at the Rainforest Pyramid

So, I ventured outside my backyard with my camera this weekend and went to Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas.  I only retreated to the Rainforest Pyramid for approximately one hour.  I probably could've stayed there half a day taking pictures, but my son wouldn't have appreciated or enjoyed that.

Rainforest Pyramid at Moody Gardens

I went to Galveston for the Fourth of July weekend and took in the sights and attractions of Moody Gardens.  I was in absolute heaven in the Rainforest Pyramid.  Here are a few pictures I took inside the pyramid.

These plants are amazing!  They hardly ever ask for water and seem to bloom more as the heat becomes more intense.

Before I got my camera and before I started this blog, I never looked this closely at the plants in my yard.  This is stage 1 of the crepe myrtle blooming.  It looks like purple colored popcorn.

Here's stage 2 and 3 of the crepe myrtle blooming.  You can see the crepe myrtle popcorn popping out the white bud in the background and the beautiful watermelon colored bloom in the foreground.
