Heat Lovers

These plants are amazing!  They hardly ever ask for water and seem to bloom more as the heat becomes more intense.

Before I got my camera and before I started this blog, I never looked this closely at the plants in my yard.  This is stage 1 of the crepe myrtle blooming.  It looks like purple colored popcorn.


Here's stage 2 and 3 of the crepe myrtle blooming.  You can see the crepe myrtle popcorn popping out the white bud in the background and the beautiful watermelon colored bloom in the foreground.

    Thanks, Cathy and Steve! They are very tolerant of the Texas heat and drought. I don't have too much else that is blooming right now. Rebecca
